Lauren David
Associate Marriage & Family Therapist (AMFT #149072)
Lauren David is an Associate Marriage & Family Therapist (AMFT #149072) who specializes in working with trauma/PTSD, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, couples, life transitions, self-esteem concerns, and grief or loss.
She offers a supportive, authentic environment where clients can safely explore their thoughts and emotions. Those who work with Lauren often describe her as warm, compassionate, and wholeheartedly invested in their personal growth. Lauren can conduct sessions in Portuguese, and also speaks some Spanish, which allows her to work with clients of many different cultural backgrounds.
Passionate about meaningful change and relational well-being, Lauren draws on relational Gestalt and psychodynamic principles to examine how early experiences influence present-day patterns. She also integrates components of Internal Family Systems (IFS), somatic techniques, and mindfulness, guiding clients to cultivate greater self-awareness and emotional resilience.
Trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Lauren combines this approach with somatic and mindfulness practices to help clients process the lasting impact of trauma. By attending to both mind and body, she supports individuals in uncovering core beliefs and developing healthier ways of relating to themselves and others.
Lauren is dedicated to helping individuals and couples heal from trauma and navigate the complexities of their relationships.
Lauren earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage & Family Therapy from Pepperdine University’s Graduate School of Education and Psychology. She has worked in community mental health settings, providing care to adolescents, adults, families, and couples from diverse backgrounds. Through this experience, Lauren has developed an inclusive, supportive approach that respects the unique backgrounds and life experiences of each individual she serves.
Outside of her work, she loves cooking, scuba diving, strength training, traveling, and listening to live music. Some of her favorite destinations include Costa Rica, Italy, Mexico City, and Brazil, where she immerses herself in local traditions and takes every opportunity to practice speaking other languages.
Lauren works under the license and supervision of Becky White, LMFT #93760.
““Lauren is an amazing therapist and my wife and I felt very comfortable as well as challenged (in a good way!) with her Lauren has an incredible ability to know when to simply listen, when to gently ask a question, and when to circle back to something we’d mentioned earlier to dive a bit deeper. Since we were in couples therapy, she gave each of us space while keeping us both grounded and connected. She has a warmth and a humor that allowed us to handle some heavier topics without them overwhelming us. I would absolutely recommend Lauren to other young couples, queer folks, and people struggling with ‘overachiever-ness’ and anxiety.” ”
