ABOUT MONICA

Monica Deyski
Associate Marriage & Family Therapist (AMFT #140120)

Monica Deyski is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT #140120) who specializes in supporting individuals and couples as they navigate relationship challenges, life transitions, identity exploration, self-development, and communication issues.

She holds a Master’s degree in Marriage & Family Therapy from the University of Southern California and has worked with clients across all stages of life—from children and adolescents to younger and older adults. Monica provides a safe, nonjudgmental space where she gently challenges clients to grow into the greatest version of themselves. She believes that every experience deserves to be acknowledged and welcomed with compassion.

Monica has extensive training in Relational Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). She understands that every individual’s experience is unique, and she works collaboratively with each client to create a highly personalized approach to healing and growth. Monica is particularly passionate about helping clients explore their self-identity, process complex relationship dynamics and family patterns, and navigate major life transitions. She has experience working with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds and is LGBTQIA+ affirming, providing inclusive care that honors each person’s lived experience.

Monica believes that finding peace with our most authentic self can lead to ultimate fulfillment in our relationships where we are able to genuinely show up and prioritize our own needs and safety.

With a relational lens, Monica emphasizes the profound impact that our relationships—both past and present—have on our mental, emotional, and physical well-being. She also draws from psychodynamic approaches to help clients process and heal from early life experiences that continue to shape their current thoughts and behaviors. Monica balances this insight-based work with practical strategies from CBT, guiding clients to reframe negative thought patterns and build corrective emotional experiences that foster lasting change.

Through her specialized training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Monica helps clients manage overwhelming emotions, improve interpersonal relationships, and reduce self-destructive behaviors. She incorporates mindfulness practices and emotional regulation skills, while offering validating support that recognizes all experiences as real and understandable.

Monica’s training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), a structured, evidence-based approach for healing from the emotional impacts of trauma, allows her to support clients in understanding the powerful connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. With this awareness, clients learn how these patterns influence their present experiences and gain tools to create healthier, more fulfilling outcomes.

At the heart of Monica’s work is her commitment to helping clients cultivate self-compassion and create a sense of safety within themselves. She believes that when we find peace with our most authentic selves, we can experience greater fulfillment in our relationships and show up more genuinely, with the ability to prioritize our own needs and well-being. Clients often describe her as warm, nonjudgmental, and insightful, creating a therapeutic environment where deep healing and personal growth feel possible.

Outside of her clinical work, Monica enjoys spending time outdoors—whether camping, backpacking, climbing, or hiking. She is committed to maintaining a balanced lifestyle that allows her to show up fully for her clients while also creating intentional space for her own self-care and renewal.

Monica is working under the supervision of Maya Weisfelner LCSW #28267.
